“Paris Through Pentax”

The city of Paris as seen through the viewfinder of a Pentax 67. I guess this is cheaper than actually shooting the film! Watch “Paris Through Pentax” below!

I really like this. The great 90 degree contrast where the video camera is looking down but the Pentax looks out, so you get a very nice effect where the periphery is different from the central frame (something I sort of forgot happens with modern cameras/phones – the periphery is always just a continuation of the frame). Also, certain viewfinders just look fantastic. The big camera obscura of the Pentax is amazing (catches that flare around 20sec!).

why does everything look so much more awesome through a viewfinder?

The image/light coming through the lens is being projected on a glass plate inside the camera. So in essence you are watching a real time focused light projection inside a black box.
