The 1908 London Olympics

In the great spirt of the London 2012 Olympics we present to you these intriguing photographs of the first year, 1908, that London hosted it’s first games. This was the third olympics in which women were allowed to compete, with such events in the Games including duelling with pistols, the great tug of war, 12 hour bike race and the complex 200-meter swimming obstacle race!

Taking a look at these remarkable pictures, it is truly fascinating to see how much has changed in the last 104 years.
